Over the years, suppliers have been instrumental in making shea an internationally recognized agro-commodity, driving demand for the coveted fruit within the food and cosmetic sectors while connecting rural African women to the global market.

The wide availability and accessibility of shea, made possible by a multi-level supplier base, has given shea a competitive edge in the CBE market – which accounts for over 90% of shea exports. However, to maintain its position, supplier-led efforts to improve parkland productivity is critical in avoiding supply volatility within the shea sector.
